"La Commune" was filmed in the year 2000 as a re-telling of the famous Paris Commune of 1871. This 6 hour documentary/drama/film experiment combines contemporary TV technology with historical narrative to re-present one of the most compelling experiments in urban history. In the long duree of the film, what emerges is the value of the experience as an exemplar not only for us but for future generations of urbanists.
