In the spirit of sharing urban perceptions from multiple lenses, this post calls attention to three different channels of visual expression in London - Urban Africa, En Construcción, and Where Three Dreams Cross. Each of these exhibitions/events offers a unique viewpoint on the urban environment and urban development through film and photography.

Urban Africa, on display at the Design Museum from March 31 - September 05, 2010 showcases architect David Adjaye's inquiries into the urbanism of multiple African cities. This offers the lens of a young and prominent architect, born in Dar es Salaam and raised in London. En Construcción, an award-winning film showing at the Architecture Foundation on March 29, relates the conflictive elements in the redevelopment of a site in Barcelona. Through the lens of director José Luis Guerin, the film offers the human stories that weave into urban redevelopment. Finally, Where Three Dreams Cross: 150 Years of Photography from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, is on view at the Whitechapel Gallery from January 21 - April 11, 2010. The exhibit offers the multiple lenses of photographers from the countries profiled, and assembles their work through the decades of the twentieth century into five urban themes.
